About me

Juan Cabral is the director and writer of the popular “Gorilla” advert for Cadbury – which was the most awarded spot of 2008, including the Cannes Grand Prix in Television. He is also the creator of the Sony Bravia Campaign Trilogy (Balls, Paint and Playdoh).

Born in Argentina in 1978, he studied Graphic Design in the University of Buenos Aires. At age 22 he went to work at Mother London, which became Agency of the year in 2002. He joined Fallon in 2003 and started to manage the Sony and Tate Museum account. He was appointed partner and creative director at the agency, which became agency of the year in 2006 and 2007. His accolades include 12 Cannes Lions, 7 Gold Clios, the 2008 Creative Circle President Award, Best in Show at the “One Show”, the prestigious D&AD Black Pencil and has won the Channel 4 Film-Four director’s cut award for the best ad of the last decade. He’s been written about by the Wall Street Journal, Independent, Guardian, Times and Esquire Magazine and was also included in the Evening Standard ‘London’s most influential people of 2008’ list. In 2009, Juan directed Sony “Soundville” that featured the small town of Seydisfjordur, Iceland. Every morning, Juan carefully selected a track to blare through the speakers, to wake people up, since the whole village would hear it.

His Cadbury Gorilla ad was voted Ad of the Decade, by Ad Age Magazine in the United States.

He is now represented worldwide as a commercial director by MJZ.
