Back to nature…A humanized little birdie has a secret to tell you; be natural.

Agency: Bartle Bogle Hegarty

City: London

Advertiser: Britvic Soft Drinks Limited

Brand Name: Robinsons

  • Very cute commercial - made me chuckle.
  • fabulous, crafted to a pace that warms the cockles of your heart
  • Gio A.
Who is the bird's interior decorator !! This ad is simply great.
  • Huh? That just gave me whiplash. Loved it up until the point where there was no connection whatsoever between the product and the commercial. Is it trying to say that it's so natural a bird would drink it? Or is the bird supposed to be symbolic of a human who lives a natural life? Or...?

On the one hand we have ham (the commercial), and in the other we have aluminum (the product). No connection between the two.

If there were yet another super at the end saying, "This message brought to you by the Obscurity Counsel who reminds you to be thoroughly obscure at least twice a day," then it would make sense.
  • mike
    Jerry..."The Obscurity Counsel"...LMAO, bravo!
  • The "Cuckoo" clock made me laugh right out loud. That and the pack of worms in the fridge. Exceptionally clever ad.
  • Tim Bjorkman
Exceptionally cute ad... But I've got to "piggy-back" Jerry - I'm not sure I'm getting the connection.
  • TomP
Frivolous but fun. Lots of way to say "made from natural ingredients" but hard to be charming. Three stars.
  • Marty
I agree with Tim and Jerry - a well done spot but not a strong enough link with the product it is supposed to be selling. Unless this is a best selling soft drink brand in the countries where it is sold and it has very high recognition, I don't think this would inspire anyone to try it for the first time if it was new to the marketplace.
  • blazer
So cute I forget it's targeted to bird-brains.
  • Regz
    huh!
  • ADAM
I think people are over emphasising a need for a 'link' or a linear message between the creative and the product.

It's engaging and funny and creates so many associations with nature that you don't have to necessarily 'think' about a message....Robinsons appears more natural which is poignant and relevant.

Gran's and mum's who love feeding bread to birds and ducks will be delighted, they'll now feed a more healthy robinsons to their kids now - there's a connection if you need one.

    Great Ad.

i'd say that AD has done a magnificent job - it really looks good! but i'm not too sure about the links between this wonderful-good looking-stilish plot and the product selling. it is funny for sure but as we know fun itself is not often the best argument for selling. joke needs a connection with the product. at the moment i see that visual plot and product field are not connected at all
  • aaaahhaha that's to clever!
  • Sooze
Amazes me that so many articulate people miss the obvious connection. Bird lives in nature, flys through the forest into his "house" that represents human existence. The detail was amazing, they made direct correlation to the human experience, in a funny and entertaining way. We all have our TVs and our fridg and our magazines, so remember the next time you go shopping, fill them with something healthy and natural. The ad was brilliant. I will never be able to see that product again and not think about the commercial (and how entertaining it was,) it will definitely make me contemplate buying it. Couldn't ask for more.

A great deal has been made of European commercials in North America that have no apparent connection to the product that they are purported to represent. This never detracts from the enjoyment of the opus, although without scrolling up, I realize that I have no idea what the commercial was intended to promote. Maybe I'm just slow.

Wait a minute - how do tiny birds open containers, fridges?
  • Julie
SO CUTE SO CUTE! I don't care what the connection is - I want that squash and I want that HOUSE!
  • Seppo
Maybe Robinsons is as natural as this bird's life? Nervously jumping from task to another. Why did it open telly, switch channel and leave? Humanising animals makes me mostly sad. The best part however was Hello-clock.
  • Fimran
I love the commercial. so cute.
  • Rene
Right about the missing connection. But loving the cat criminal, human clock, etc. But wouldn't it have been obvious to use a robin rather than a finch? Seeing the lack of connection...

And where do I sign up for that Obscurity Counsel? Can't wait to have to download special software to be able to read their newsletter.
  • Nice!
  • Deb
I've watched this a dozen times, and shared it with several friends who also love it. A charming, fun advert that makes me want to find and try the product (in California). Excellent ad!!! I hope they do more that are this clever and fun!
  • Rakesh
