Ed joined Cline Davis & Mann (CDM) in 1984, its founding year. He was appointed President and CEO in December 2001 and has now taken on the role of Chairman and CEO. In 2007, Ed was also named Chairman of the newly formed The SSCG Group. The SSCG Group is a holding company that manages three core agency brands: CDM, Lab9, and AgencyRx.
CDM is the largest healthcare agency brand in the US headquartered in New York and handles more than 50% of its business on a global basis. Around the globe, CDM has more than 1,200 employees, with offices in Munich, London, Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, Istanbul, Sao Paulo, New York, Princeton and Los Angeles. Under Ed’s management, the agency group has experienced double-digit growth consistently over the past 10 years, and continues to build business in the service of leading healthcare companies, including Amgen, Bayer, Genentech, Novartis, Novo Nordisk, and Pfizer, among many others.
Over the past several years, Ed and his management team have driven the strategic expansion of integrated services throughout the agency. Key among these is the infusion of digital capabilities and competency throughout the organization. In fact, the agency has been transformed from an advertising agency, to an “idea” agency. With brand ideas at the center, multi-channel solutions become core to everything done at CDM. Basic to this approach is new reach into global markets with CDM owned and operated agencies in all key markets, global access and reimbursement capability, patient and professional relationship marketing expertise, plus business consulting as complements to more traditional agency functions.
Ed is extremely protective of the environment that has made the SSCG Group a great place for the most talented people in the business to thrive and grow. A satisfied client recently said to Ed, “It’s all about the people, isn’t it?” It is. And Ed is determined to keep it that way. Away from work, Ed provides spectator services for his 4 children who are in constant need of an audience.
