Rory Sutherland in Cannes visited us and answered our questions on the Red Carpet.

From unlikely beginnings as a classics teacher to his current job as Vice Chairman of Ogilvy Group, Rory Sutherland has created his own brand of the Cinderella story. He joined Ogilvy & Mather’s planning department in 1988, and became a junior copywriter, working on Microsoft’s account in its pre-Windows days. An early fan of the Internet, he was among the first in the traditional ad world to see the potential in these relatively unknown technologies.

Rory Sutherland stands at the center of an advertising revolution in brand identities, designing cutting-edge, interactive campaigns that blur the line between ad and entertainment.

We had the chance to interview the successful Executive Creative Director and CEO of Del Campo Saatchi & Saatchi, Maxi Itzkoff, his creative partner, Mariano Serkin and the agency founder, Pablo del Campo. They have talked to us about the prize they won in the Outdoor category tuesday for the « Teletransporter ».

Indeed, both his production and the presentation film are really interesting.

http://www.adforum.com/creative_archive/award/reel_detail.asp?AD=34453176&TDA=VDnzgUxIfD&awid=69204678&awy=2010&ID=16

The idea was simple, to permite guys go drinking beer wih their friends in bars, they created a big box with different sound ambiances (hospital, traffic jam,, walking dog…). The aim of this action was to reassure their wife or girlfriend calling them in the box and with the ambiance they chose to lie about what they are really doing.

Thanks to his talent Maxi has brought his agency, Del Campo Saatchi & Saatchi to the top 5 in Gunn Report.

In the pleasant setting of the Carlton Hotel in Cannes, we interviewed David Jones, the globally renowned CEO of Havas Worldwide. He explains his “Tck Tck Tck” campaign for Kofi Annan.

David’s career has been characterized by tremendous accomplishments at a very young age. He was recently named Global CEO of Havas Worldwide, running Euro RSCG Worldwide, Arnold Worldwide and all creative, marketing services and design companies throughout the global Havas network of 12,000 people and more than 250 offices. In addition to his role with Havas, David serves as the Global Chief Executive Officer of Euro RSCG Worldwide where he manages one of the world’s leading global agency networks. And over the past four years, David has led Euro RSCG through a period of impressive growth.
Prior to this, David was CEO of the New York office of Euro RSCG, where he managed an unprecedented new business and creative renaissance. In under a year, the agency became one of New York’s hottest shops, winning more than $500 million in new business, including the global Jaguar car business and the North American Charles Schwab account. David was previously Euro RSCG’s President of Global Business, leading the agency’s 42 multinational clients. He served as Chief Executive of Euro RSCG Australia (1998-2002) during which time the agency was named “Australia’s Agency of the Year” and Australia’s “Interactive Agency of the Year” no fewer than four times.

While his accomplishments speak for themselves, the industry has recognized David for his noteworthy leadership. In 2005, he was inducted into the American Advertising Federation’s “Hall of Achievement” and was named to the “40 Under 40” lists of both Crain’s New York Business and Advertising Age, the following year. In 2006, the Financial Times and Aviva named him one of the Top 5 European Pioneering Thought Leaders. More recently, David was selected by The World Economic Forum as one of the 2008 Young Global Leaders, joining 245 leading executives, public figures and intellectuals – all age 40 or younger – chosen from around the world.
During his career, David has become a passionate advocate for a host of social and political causes, most recently leading the industry on his call for creative minds to come together to help address various issues facing our world. He is the co-founder of One Young World, an organization that aims to be the voice of twenty-somethings worldwide on critical international issues such as environmentalism, health and education. Kofi Annan has selected David and his team to lead the global advertising for the Campaign for Climate Justice, which aims to raise awareness of the impact of the changing environment on poor communities throughout the globe.

Bill Sewell, President of Wiredrive, revealed himself as a guest on our “Red Carpet”.

Bill is not only Wiredrive’s president, but the visionary behind the technology itself. He started developing web applications in 1995, just after Al Gore invented the Internet. He has the distinction of building the first communications extranet in the entertainment business for CBS, and his team of interactive wizards have designed the most well known websites in the business. His restless commitment for linking good technology to improving business practices has revolutionized how the creative industry works and collaborates today.

The Global Chief Executive Officer for Euro RSCG Worldwide and Havas Worldwide has “Tcked"

The illustrious David Jones has been filmed in the Act Responsible Exposition (Palais des Festivals in Cannes) yesterday. He was attracted by the “Tck Tck Tck” machine: signing up for climate change. Every year, over 300,000 people die as a direct result of climate change. This number is set to rise every year unless we get our politicians to sign up to climate justice at the UN Climate Conference in Decembre 2009. Thus, it was an honor for our team to record and immortalize his “Tck”!

On our private “Red carpet” by Adforum, we had a chance to interview Terry Savage, the Cannes Lions Festival’s chairman. Watch the video to discover the Festival’s backstage!!
Before being the Festival’s chairman, Terry Savage was Executive Chairman of the Australian cinema advertising company Val Morgan. Under his leadership, the screen advertising supplier Val Morgan became prominent around the world and promoted Australian creativity.
When he became chairman of the International Advertising Festival, the event attracted even more entries, and more delegates… until this year, when they recorded a decrease of 20 to 40% for the number of entries. But this decline is generally caused by the actual crisis, that did not spare the advertising business…
